Contributor Agreement

This agreement applies whenever you deposit a snippet. It is in addition to the Terms of Service. It sets out what you promise about your code, the licence you grant, and how you get paid.

Last updated July 15, 2026

1You keep ownership; you grant us a licence

You retain ownership of the code you deposit. By depositing, you grant Abyssal Group a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing, sublicensable licence to host, scan, index, display metadata for, and distribute your snippet to retrievers under the licence you select for it. This licence lets us run the marketplace; it is not an assignment of your rights.

2What you promise about your deposit

You represent and warrant, for every snippet you deposit, that:

  • You wrote it, or you have all rights necessary to license and distribute it as offered.
  • The licence you attach is accurate and compatible with any third-party code or dependencies embedded in it.
  • It contains no secrets, credentials, API keys, tokens, or personal data of any person.
  • It contains no malware, backdoors, or code designed to harm, exfiltrate data, or evade security controls.
  • It does not include proprietary code of a third party (including a current or former employer) that you are not licensed to publish.
  • It does not infringe any intellectual-property, privacy or other right, and does not violate any law.

Deposits are also subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.

3Review, scanning and moderation

Deposits are screened (including by automated multi-model safety and commodity checks) before they can be retrieved. We may reject, edit metadata for, delist, or revoke any snippet at our discretion — including for security, licensing or policy reasons. We are under no obligation to publish or keep publishing any deposit. Screening is not an endorsement and does not transfer your warranties to us.

4Revenue share and payouts

  • When your accepted snippet is retrieved with backed (real-money) credits, you accrue 60% of the retrieval fee as withdrawable balance; Moresq retains 40% as platform commission. One credit equals one US cent.
  • Retrievals paid with trial credits do not accrue withdrawable balance.
  • Withdrawable balance matures after a retention period before it can be cashed out, to cover refunds and disputes.
  • Payouts are made through Stripe Connect Express. You must complete Stripe onboarding (identity/tax) to receive funds, and are subject to a minimum payout threshold.
  • You are responsible for any taxes on your earnings.

5Clawbacks and negative balance

If a purchase that funded a retrieval is later refunded or charged back, the corresponding credited amounts may be clawed back. Your balance can go negative as a result, and future accruals or payouts may be applied to clear it. Amounts already paid out to you in good faith are addressed through the maturation window and our recovery rights.

6No self-dealing or wash trading

You may not retrieve your own snippets, use additional or coordinated accounts to inflate a snippet's usage, ranking or earnings, or fund retrievals with fraudulent payment methods. These behaviours result in forfeiture of affected balances, removal of the snippet, and account termination, and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

7Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Abyssal Group, Moresq and retrievers of your snippet against claims, damages and costs arising from a breach of your representations in Section 2 — in particular intellectual-property claims, licence-incompatibility claims, or harm caused by unsafe code you deposited.

8Withdrawing snippets and termination

You may request that a snippet be delisted at any time; it will stop being offered for new retrievals. Licences already granted to prior retrievers survive, and metadata may be retained where needed for ledger, accounting or legal reasons. Sections 2, 5, 7 and payout-recovery rights survive termination.

9Governing law and contact

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States. Questions about deposits or payouts: contact us.
